John C. Stiles : Boston Airport Collection 1925-1931
Object ID:
2015.25.8
VE Exhibit Label 1:
Interesting to note that Stiles labeled the photo "Armed Forces Day" when he compiled the album in 1973. Armed Forces Day was established in 1949 to create a time for citizens to come together to thank our military members for their patriotic service in support of our country. It replaced separate Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force Days.

Here are photos of Bay State Flying Service, East Coast Flying Corporation and the federal Department of Commerce Boston Airway communications building and tower located at Castle Island, South Boston.
